“In 1860, 99% of all black people worked for whites. Today, 98% of all black people work for whites. You are enjoying a social illusion because you go to someone else’s restaurant, but you don’t own a restaurant yourself.”—
“Another time, Jack took a call. A voice on the other end said, ‘There are three of us down here in the lobby. We want to see the guy who does this disgusting comic book and show him what real Nazis would do to his Captain America’. To the horror of others in the office, Kirby rolled up his sleeves and headed downstairs. The callers, however, were gone by the time he arrived.”—Mark Evanier, Kirby: King of Comics (via nerdhapley)
It’s Jack Kirby’s birthday, so here’s that story of him being bad ass all of the time.
Unfriendly reminder that in America it’s reasonable to say an unarmed black kid deserved to be shot six times because he might have robbed a convenience store, but a white kid shouldn’t be kicked off the high school football team just because he violently raped a girl.
I've always had the idea that strippers had "daddy issues" but looking at your blog totally cleared that bullshit conception of it!! It makes me want to join but I'm not comfortable with people looking at me butt ass naked. I can't even have my boyfriends looking at me naked. Power to you girl!!!
The idea of “daddy issues” is ultimately incredibly misogynistic, blaming and shaming women for having been abused or neglected as little girls by adult men and making it HER fault, HER problem. Even if I was a stripper with an abusive father, who the fuck’s business is it? Does it invalidate my life and experiences and choices? Is it more relevant than a lawyer with an abusive father? Or a war veteran? Why do you blame and invalidate women for being hurt by men AS CHILDREN? It’s wrong. I urge people to purge the phrase “daddy issues” from your personal vocabulary for life.
You ever have a character that piques your interest, but they’re from a series you’re not really interested in becoming invested in? But you really just want to get into that character, but deep in your gut, you know that really isn’t the way to go about things, so you just end up staring at that character like
Guys it’s really important during this whole ferguson protest that we as social media DO NOT back down until punishment is dealt to those racists. If we let this movement die, then the oppressors win. I’ve seen stuff like this before and the majority of people stop posting about it within a week. We can’t let that happen, this is too important. so keep reblogging and keep posting until these darn racists are punished for their awful inhumane actions.
One of my favourite things about Harry Potter is that Harry is such an unreliable narrator, not because he’s lying, but because he was so oblivious, just about anything could be going on under his nose and he wouldn’t even notice. It’s great because it supports basically every headcanon. Like, no, Harry would not have noticed if Sirius and Remus were dating, I know he’s The Chosen One but he’s about as perspective as a pile of bricks.
